Brazil or the Federative Republic of Brazil. It’s known for its football team, Carnaval, and the Amazon rainforest. There is a misconception of Brazilians being Hispanic and not Latinos or thinking their Latinos and not Hispanic. Well, Brazilians are not Hispanic, because they don’t speak Spanish; they speak Portuguese. But they are Latinx which refers to geography and Brazil is a country in Latin America. Brazil has 26 states and 1 federal district. It has a border with every South American country except Chile and Ecuador. Brazil’s population is more than 213 million, according to The World Bank.  

Brazil has a lot of traditions. For example, “In Brazil, Christmas Eve is the main event of the holiday season. Since 54 percent of the population is Catholic, many Brazilians attend midnight mass, exchange gifts and celebrate with large family gatherings the night before Christmas” by “Sol de Janeiro.com”. A lot of the Brazilian Christmas traditions come from Portugal as Portugal ruled Brazil for many years. Carnival is what Brazil is most known for. It takes place in February; the date moves around it takes a week. Next year Carnival will take place from the afternoon of February 17 until 22 middays. Carnival is celebrated before the beginning of lent. Lent is a season in church which it dedicated to God so you can’t eat meat. Samba is a big part of Carnival. As claimed by, “Aventura do Brazil”, “Today Samba is considered the joyful, lively and rhythmic dance of carnival in Brazil. There are many different styles, just as there are many types of Samba music. It can be said with certainty that Samba is one of the most popular Latin American dances. Today, when people think of Samba, the first thing they think of is the famous carnival in Rio de Janeiro. During the carnival, the Samba schools perform with thousands of elaborately dressed dancers and show their interpretation of this year’s theme.” Carnival help Brazil with economic as lot tourist come, such the samba school. Carnival is about a big parades dance, costume, and celebration. “African culture has also greatly influenced the Carnival in Brazil, from costumes to make-up. In Africa, natural objects had special meaning, and were often used as decoration “stated by blog.busuu.com. A lot of Brazil culture are influence in African culture. 

Brazil’s national sport is the joint art of African and Portuguese influences called capoeira. According to Stepflixenterinment.com, it is a mix of dance and martial and it was declared their national sport and cultural heritage in 2014 by UNESCO. Although Brazil it is known for its football team. Even though Capoeira is the national sport, football is more popular, because it unites people together and its part of Brazil’s cultural identity. Brazil is known as the “o País do Futebol” or “the country of football”.  

To conclude, Brazil has a beautifully rich culture. It is bright, colorful, and joyful, due to traditions and its culture. It has stunning beaches, amazing rainforests, and interesting cities for everyone to explore and enjoy. “From the sidewalk cafes of Rio, to backyard barbecues, to beaches up and down the long coast, to the wild interior, Brazil is a place to be outside.” says a CNN Travel article. The country is a place to enjoy the outdoors and how tropical it is from the moment one wakes up to the moment one goes to sleep. The people there are no different than the country itself; introverts do not exist in Brazil, people like to go out, make loud sounds, and engage in conversation, perfect way to break introverts out of their shell.
