Artist Spotlight- February Addition
This month in Mr. Draper’s 2D art class the students focused on an interesting theme; they painted artwork inspired off of a French artist named, Henri Matisse. Henri Émile Benoît Matisse was a French visual artist, known for his use of color with famous paintings being, “Woman with a hat (1905).”
The students practiced this old painters method by doing portraits using the same method of color that Matisse used called fauvism, where the artists paints a realistic subject with unnatural colors such a green, blue, yellow, or purple.
The students did an incredible job on their given task working hard with stunning results. their uses of color are brilliant in living up to modern day fauvism.
