Damian Lillard scored an incredible 71 points on Sunday, February 26th, officially becoming the 8th ever player in the NBA to score over 70 points in one game. Lillard has been steadily increasing his points per game for the past several years, and was heavily anticipated by fans.

Lillard also had five 60 point games in his career, being one of the only 6 players in the NBA to have consecutive 60 point games, surpassing Michael Jordan with his four 60 point games.

Despite Lillard’s 6’2 stature which is not very tall in the NBA, he still achieved this accomplishment. Usually in the NBA the 6’8 and 6’9 athletes are the high point scorers, However, Damian Lillard definitely deserves credit for scoring 71 points, especially at his height.

Damian Lillard was the 6th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, and was a third team All- American for the Weber State Wildcats. Damian Lillard averaged 19.0 points, 7 assist, and 4 rebounds, his rookie year playing for the Portland Trailblazers in the 2012-2013 season.

Lillard also won the Rookie of the year award in his first ever season playing for the NBA.

Damian Lillard is scoring 50 points over 15 times, this put Lillard in the top 5 scorers in NBA history only under greats like Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberland.

Kobe Bryant was one of the greatest players to notice Damian Lillard’s potential.  In the 2013 NBA season the La Lakers played against the Portland Trailblazers. Kobe had an amazing game scoring scoring 47 points but Damian Lillard also had an amazing game scoring 39 points as a Rookie.

Kobe was very impressed by Lillard’s performance that night saying,” That boy is serious, he’s not afraid of anything, he got the whole package”. Kobe Bryant knows talent when he sees it and he for sure seen it in Damian Lillard that night.

Damian Lillard has not had the easiest journey to the top, yet he has overcome many setbacks.

Damian Lillard is only 32 years old as of today and there is going to be many more years of “Dame Time” to come. We are very excited to see what Damian Lillard is going to accomplish in the future.
