Prom 2023: An Enchanting Evening
Wesley Chapel High School’s 2023 Prom was a night full of long-lasting memories and joy. The music, fashion, and venue made April 29th, 2023 a night to remember. Prom is a chance for students to show off their style and taste in an elegant manner. This year’s prom was especially filled with beautiful clothes and stunning gowns from both the juniors and departing seniors.
Scanning the room, it was apparent that the color red was in this year. Senior, Leann Samhoury was one of the students who chose to wear a red dress. When interviewed, Samhoury revealed that she chose her dress from Windsor and that she “loved the color and just the overall way it fit [her].”
In the same realm of red, Junior, Kyrstan Coleman decided on a maroon dress to match with her date Junior, Logan Pomerenke who wore a black suit with a maroon tie. Coleman stated that they “matched with black and maroon for fun and to make it known that [they] were there as dates.” Coleman also revealed that she coincidentally came across her prom dress at Dillard’s and picked it out because she “absolutely loved it.”
Another jaw dropping gown would have to be Senior, Lizzie Sawyer’s dress. Sawyer wore a gorgeous corset dress with pink peonies scattered all around it. The last eye-catching and ethereal dress at this year’s prom was Senior, Hishareylee Claudio Lebrón’s purple dress. Lebrón revealed that she bought her dress from Nikki’s Giltz and Glam Boutique of Wesley Chapel. Lebrón stated that “when [she] saw the dress, [she] fell in love with it and it made [her] feel like a princess.”
Although the attire that filled this year’s prom was undoubtedly enchanting, most of the clothes did not seem to fit this year’s theme of Enchanted Forest. When interviewed, 3/3 of students reported feeling that this year’s theme was not followed amongst the students. Coleman stated that the dresses/suits were “exactly like [she] predicted, tight fitting dresses and simple yet elegant for both the suits and dresses.” The question of whether or not the students attempted to follow the theme arose.
In short, the answer is both yes and no. Samhoury stated that she was “kind of searching for a dress that fit the theme, but in the end, [her] dress wasn’t on theme very much.” It seems that finding a dress that is both affordable and on theme can be difficult. Lebrón, however, came up with different results. Lebrón stated that she was in fact searching for a dress to fit the theme and ended up finding a beautiful and on-theme dress.
All in all, this year’s prom was a dazzling event full of grace and charm. Although the dresses and suits may not have been on-theme, that does not mean that the Wesley Chapel students did not absolutely out-do themselves at this year’s prom. The differing styles and tastes that circled the room portrayed the dignity and elegance of the Wesley Chapel Wildcats.
