Travis Scott Album Review “Utopia”

Travis Scott Album Review

On Friday, July 28, Travis Scott released his long-awaited 4th studio album titled “Utopia”. Which is an album heavily influenced by the artist Kanye West on all 19 tracks. Such as the autotune that connects to 808’s & Heartbreaks, mix and mastering connecting to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and the synths and mysterious sounds of Yeezus compared by Alphonse Pierre at Pitchfork.

On this album Travis uses many diverse types of sounds and instruments to create an experience that takes you out of your body into another world. This album is not like any other album Travis has created in the past. It is a unique album where he developed his sound and production. Which makes this album unique and a must listen too.

The album has a lot of features from some of the topmost popular artists people are listening to right now. Drake featured on Track 7 titled “MELTDOWN,” SZA and Future on Track 18 “TELEKINESIS,” also Bad Bunny and The Weeknd on Track 17 “K-POP.” And many more such as Playboy Carti, 21 Savage, Kid Cudi, Westside Gunn, and Young Thug, etc.

The album had a successful first week with debuting number 1 on Billboard 200 with 496,000 equivalent album units. Also, all 19 tracks on the album were on Billboard Hot 100. Although Utopia did not have as many units as Travis’s previous album “Astroworld” which sold 537,000 units, its first week Utopia is still a must listen too album.

Cydney Lee was asked by Billboard how happy she is with the first week performance of “Utopia”, on a scale from 1-10? “If I’m Travis, 10 especially given the festival tragedy, having not released an album in five years, etc.”

The festival tragedy was on November 5, 2021, when Travis held his third “Astroworld” Festival in his hometown Houston, Texas. It was supposed to be a 2-day festival with Travis of course being the main headliner with about 50,000 people who attended the festival according to Billboard. Well, while he was performing there was a massive crowd surge which left 10 people dead and hundreds injured. So that is why Cydney Lee made that remark at the festival.

Travis has already made his return to the stage last August of 2022 and performed at many this year such as Rolling Loud and many overseas festivals. Travis is set to go on tour later this year for the first time since his most recent tour for “ASTROWORLD” back in 2019. All though date has not been announced yet it will be a big return for Travis back to the stage and a tour to remember himself and all his supporters.

Utopia also came with a 75-minute cinematic movie titled “Circus Maximus” which according to IMDb “Hypnotic and captivating journey into Travis Scott’s creative mind. With incredible visuals, lush cinematography, layers of meaning, and an immersive soundtrack, it offers an experience that delves deep into the unique vision of UTOPIA.” So, if you take your time to tune into the cinematic album UTOPIA you can also take time and tune into “Circus Maximus”. Which shall take you on a visit to “UTOPIA”.
