Homecoming is coming up, so we decided to interview our very own teachers and students at Wesley Chapel about their opinions on the upcoming event that everyone is waiting for.

Homecoming is an extremely exciting and enjoyable activity to look forward to. Going with friends or even a special someone can also make it even more amusing. Starting off quite simple, we asked students if they were excited about homecoming and if they were going with anyone. The first two people we asked were students Anastasia Alvarez and Dasharia Whitehead, both in 9th grade. They said, “We are very excited and can’t wait to see how it is going to turn out.” When asked if they would prefer to attend the event with either friends or a person of interest, they responded with the following as Anastasia said, “I would go with someone I’m interested in.” Whereas Dasharia said, “I would rather go with my friends.”

The theme for this year’s homecoming is the four seasons which will be divided by grade levels. Some people like to go with the theme, and others tend to have some more individuality. Students were asked if they knew the theme and would dress accordingly. Many students were not aware of the theme when asked. We interviewed another 9th grader named Veronica Garcia. She did not know the theme. When told, Veronica said she did not have much of an opinion on it. She will also be one of the students who will not be dressing according to the theme as she prefers to do her own thing.

Homecoming is not just an occasion exclusive to students; teachers and staff also participate in homecoming and the activities leading up to it. Teachers and staff do things such as volunteering for HOCO and help preparing for it. Teachers were asked questions about homecoming and gave varying responses. Ms. Favata, a social studies and personal finance teacher here at WCHS, was asked if she would be volunteering and her response was “I did last year I won’t this year.” Mr. Combs is an Algebra 1 teacher at our school in the 300 hall. He was aware of the theme for homecoming and although he will not be volunteering, he said “If I were going, I would dress up for the theme for freshmen.”

People are looking forward to Chapel’s 2023 homecoming. It is a fun event to attend with friends or a special someone. Many great lifelong memories will be made at this year’s homecoming. See you there!
