Hannah Davila signs with U of Georgia

Hannah Davila signs with U of Georgia

Since being a little kid and working with her Dad as her coach, Hannah Davila a dream many would hope for. She is being committed to University of Georgia (UGA), one of the top 10 softball colleges, D1 in the year 23-24.

From the age of 5 or 6, she never expected this will happen to her. “It just started out as fun, I played multiple sports, like soccer, gymnastics, but I didn’t think that I would be, I knew I was good as a little kid, but I was humble about it, so it was kinda surprising that I signed,” said by Hannah. UGA was a part of her top 3 picks of colleges and she knew that she could be signed when they asked her “if she wanted to be a apart of their college” during a visit to a Football game. This experience for her, “felt pretty awesome, I mean I worked pretty hard for it, so it is amazing I got this opportunity.”

This success that she has obtained did not go without hard work and determination through her whole life. Even with the unexpected events of being signed to UGA, Hannah Davila will still continue onto a path diligently and earnest.

Her love for softball is full of care, compassion, and devotion. “I love the opportunities I get and the connection I get from the people around the world and how it could helped me.” But softball is not the only thing in her life, her parents, Kristina and Alberto Davila made a huge impact on how she became the person she is today. “My parents, they helped me a lot, financially and emotionally through everything and they were for me since the beginning.”

Like her Dad,  that had been her coach and helped the most since she started to play and “since I was a little kid, so it was the best thing to have him on my side.” Not only has she done softball, but also other sports like basketball. In some cases, she had injuries that made her sidelined or think she might not be able to play anymore. One of these injuries were when she played basketball. “I did get

a injury in basketball last year, so that why I didn’t play in basketball this year, but no.”

Although softball is helping with getting into college, it is not her only thing. She is planning on having a major in Criminology to become a CIA and is uncertain about a future career in softball, but her younger self is probably more in shock from what she has achieved.

Hannah thought if she told her younger self she got signed she would think, “OMG this can’t be happening right now,” but she is also proud with overcoming doubt she has experienced. Some advice she would give is “to keep pushing and always believe in yourself and even though a lot of downs there are still gonna be your highs.” While in college she plans to manage her grades and a sport at the same time by “definitely taking my time and having good time management through things.” Though after college aims to “either be a coach or a CIA, like my Dad.”

Even from a little kid she worked hard to make this dream come true. Through her path of achieving this, she became a part of Wesley Chapel Wildcats.

The best thing she is planning on taking from being at Wesley Chapel High school is “the connection with all the players and it helps me expand my friendships and my opportunities to connect with other people.” She plans on visiting Chapel to watch and catch up past teammates next year.

At her past high school, where she attended Homewood Flossmoor High School earned  all-conference honors and MVP status twice before moving. Davila is the number 7 recruit  by Perfect Game Softball in the 2023 class.

Her future coach and the head softball coach, Tony Baldwin said, “Hannah is a high-end athlete. She is physical and especially agile. She has all the traits of being an elite defender whether that be in the middle of the infield or the corners. She has crazy raw power with her bat and her best days as a hitter are still ahead of her. She is another one that comes from an athletic family and plays the game with a high level of softball I.Q. She has played highly competitive travel ball under Coach Rocky Thompson and the Thunderbolts and now is playing in the Lady Dukes program under James Lamar. We are excited to welcome Hannah and her family to Athens.”

From a little kid, with no understanding what she will accomplish to an amazing softball players being committed to UGA, and having a chance at playing in the softball world series!
